Admira Spanish And Flamenco Guitars

May 7th, 2012 by admin in Flamenco

In response to some of you who have emailed me about the guitar I use for flamenco or Spanish style playing here you go!

Admira guitars are made in Spain and each guitar comes with a name such as “Maria” for example. The name given to it is a direct reference to the build quality of the guitar and also it’s price range. The “Maria” model for example is around the mid-level in the Admira classical guitar range.

Students wishing to learn flamenco guitar should first buy a nylon string guitar of the classical kind as these tend to be a lot more affordable and also a lot easier to find since almost every guitar store will carry a few decent nylon string guitars in its inventory. They are perfect starter guitar and will generally go for lesson than $100. Yamaha is another popular brand.

What you really want to find is a guitar which is decent enough that it’s going to tune up correctly. If it won’t tune up then you basically have a piece of junk rather than a musical instrument. The action is not too important as the strings on these guitars are pretty easy to press down so it normally never presents a problem.

Achieving A Quality Blues Tone With Your Amp

April 8th, 2012 by admin in online guitar lessons

For any serious blues guitarist player, finding your own unique tone that says what you want it to and it something which defines your playing and sound is kind of a holy grail. Many spend years searching for their tone and go through many different amps and pedals while others simply seem to fall over their own killer sound as through it was something which always belonged to them. Whichever way you find it, it should be one of your highest priorities.

Once you’re done learning how to play an A barre chord or other basics for example, turn your attention completely to tone.

The first thing I would advise is that you use .11 strings. You really do need some thicker strings in order to pump some extra heart and soul into your blues phrasing. Blues is all about extracting the maximum amount of emotional content you can from every note you play rather than running all around the neck string skipping through arpeggios and sweep picking! For the latter .009 strings are the standard and more ideal however for blues, keep it heavy – 11′s or 12′s are the way to go.

Next it’s really important that you have a tube amp. These will give you the best kind of distortion and break up more depending upon how hard you attack the strings with your pick. In short, they are really responsive. You have the volume up and to get more distortion you simply attack the phrase harder with your picking, you clean up you lighten your attack. This creates a very personal and responsive guitar sound which is perfect for blues.

On top of this you can inject some extra juice with by adding a pedal or booster in to the signal. Stepping on and off this pedal should give your sound a little charge of turbo and the Ibanez Tube Screamer is one of the most popular to use. Stevie Ray Vaughan was known for liking these a whole lot and in fact would use two of them on stage. One set up to boost his signal while the other was set to inject some added distortion.

Acoustic Guitar

Ok so you’ve gone out and bought the acoustic guitar, the strings, the pick and the guitar tuner… maybe even a book too but if you want to teach yourself guitar at home then online guitar lessons are where it’s really at!

You can find lots of fingerstyle guitar lessons on the internet and many of them are for free but the problem is that you’ll only learn in bits and pieces. A much better approach is to invest in a subscription membership to an online guitar site where you’ll be able to complete entire courses from start to finish and establish a secure foundation upon which to build.

Most people learning guitar lessons online are complete beginners so the first thing to look at will be your chords and strumming patterns. It only takes about 1 month to master enough of them to be able to start playing some easy guitar songs. This is assuming however that you’re taking guitar lessons 1 with good a quality guitar website and practicing on a daily basis.

Interactive Guitar Lessons

The more sophisticated sites tend to offer students a more interactive experience with their guitar teachers. You’ll also find that there will be up to 20 guitar instructors to choose from. As online guitar lessons through webcam become ever more popular students are able to watch the tutorials in real time “live” and ask questions directly into a chat box.

This is probably as close to real 1-1 guitar lessons as you can get online!

What I like about this kind of personal approach is that you don’t feel so isolated which can be a problem when learning guitar completely on your own. There are many times when a student will become very de-motivated and frustrated to the point of wishing to give up but it’s at these times when having someone to encourage you can really save the day.

Online Guitar Instruction

So in summary it’s well worthwhile putting in the necessary time to research the web for guitar sites. Think about it…

  • You can learn at your own pace
  • Practice guitar only at the times that suit you
  • Get to learn guitar much cheaper than taking traditional private lessons
  • Learn from many different, high quality tutors from around the world
  • Can cancel your subscription at any time or even get your money back if you’re not satisfied

All this makes taking online guitar lessons 2 a complete no-brainer in my opinion and for really spectacular results try combining different forms of learning together – offline, online, books, dvd’s and so forth.

Guitar Player Guide – how to name your band

I am not sure about you and other people but for me, naming your band is probably one of the most difficult things to do. not that you couldn’t come up with a name, it’s more like you could come up with too many names that you get too confused in which would you choose as your band name.  If you are really serious with your stuff as a band, you need to come up with a name. Your band name is your legacy, something that people would remember forever, if you are good enough. So here’s how to come up with a band name.

Guitar Player Guide – how to name your band (Tips)

First, write down all the band names that you can come up with. It doesn’t matter if its cheesy or not that good, just right it down. It would be great if all your band members would participate in this. Once you have finished writing all of it down, it’s time for some elimination. Eliminate those band names that you don’t like. It is important that you should come up with an agreement on which names would make it and which names wont. After that, when only three or four is left, you do some voting. The name with the highest votes would be your band name.

Guitar Player Guide – how to name your band (conclusion)

Remember, if you are planning to go global with your band, you should settle down with a band name that is not similar with any other world class act. You can’t name your band Metallica that is pretty obvious. The risks that you are facing if you do that is law suits and stuff and that is not good. Guitar Player Guide.

The Neck Part of the Guitar

September 6th, 2010 by admin in Blues Guitar

If you really want to master the guitar, you must start at the lowest level and then go up in a gradual tempo. The basic things you need to know about the guitar is its guitar parts. It is essential that you learn the parts of your guitar as well as its functions for you to be able to determine which part should be configured or replaced with another part variant to make your guitar playing more comfortable or to get that exact tone that you wanted to produce. So if you want to learn more about this subject matter, I have just the right amount of information that you need to know about a certain guitar part called the neck. It is the most important part of the guitar in  which it is the basis of the note that you want to play.

The guitar neck is consisted of the fretboard, fret marks, fret bar and the neck itself. Some are single – piece and is usually made of maple wood. There are also two – piece necks, which are pretty common. The back part made of maple and the fretboard made of rosewood. This is where you touch the strings to create a certain note.

Sweep picking

August 27th, 2010 by admin in Blues Guitar

Here is a guitar technique that if mastered, would allow you to hit a flurry of notes in one whip. You can’t possibly do this with alternate picking. This would allow you to play two or more notes in a string adjacent to each other, using one sweeping motion, whether downwards or upwards. So if you want to learn more about this subject matter, there is only one method that I could suggest: read this post. Yes, simply read this. That is if you want to avoid the trouble of Google – ing it and ending up on a paid website that won’t allow you to see anything unless you pay for it. Save yourself from that trouble and read his post. And by the time you finish reading it, you would become informed about it and you will have the tools necessary to practice it.

For example, you have to do an arpeggio on three notes on three adjacent strings. Now, this is the perfect situation in which you could use sweep picking. Instead of picking it one by one or doing alternate picking on their behinds, you could sweep your way down to that three notes. The result, faster note picking.

Creative juices

August 20th, 2010 by admin in Blues Guitar

When I joined my first serious band, I had these thought on my head. I wanted to get band mates who are in the same frequency as me. I want my band mates to be overflowing with creative juices so that songwriting or riff making would be an effortless thing. And indeed, I wasn’t disappointed at all. All five of us were overflowing with it, to the point that we created 5 songs in a week. Anyway, those days were gone, we’ve went our own separate ways now.

What are creative juices? It’s just a term used for overflowing creativity or creativity itself. If you have these present within your group, songwriting is not a problem. You could come up with dozens of songs in any given time as long as you have this. But a thing to consider, skills are also necessary. What’s the use of having all of these creative juices if you don’t have the right amount of skill to execute them? It would all be useless. That is why, for beginner guitar players, start with learning your basic guitar lessons before you move on to bigger things like songwriting. Most songs are riff – based and you possibly cannot create awesome riffs without skill.

Pink Floyd lyrics

August 13th, 2010 by admin in Blues Guitar

Roger Waters, the bass player, singer and songwriter for pink Floyd recently gave the Canadian band permission to record again the song Another Brick In The Wall, part two way the different lyrics.  This was a according to the Associated Press.  Blurred vision Toronto, Canada as originally wanted to direct their version of the pink Floyd single two young Iranians.  They want to make it like an anthem for those youth.  The lines that they are going to change are the most famous one, “Hey, Teacher!” to “Hey, Ayatollah, leave those kids alone!”

The band blurred vision is led by two brothers. Sepp and Sohl are from Iran and were exiles.  They were forced to keep their last names away from the public because they’re afraid that family and members or still back there in their country would retaliate when they hear it.  For your information, rock music is it illegal in Iran.  Talk about boring.

When interviewed, Waters said that he would willingly support any one who is fighting against oppression.  He thinks that the band blared fish and place a big role of that resistance to arranging that is both we repressive and brutal.  That was so nice of him.
